Teaching Philosophy
Those who wish to sing always find a song.
My objectives as a vocal instructor is to help my students build healthy and efficient vocal techniques as well as cultivate their own artistry. Technique is the foundation that enables singers to interpret musical styles authentically and freely. To produce an uninhibited and unique sound, students have to master breath support and control, manage vocal coordination in different registers, and understand basic vocal anatomy and physiology.
My extensive expertise in vocal anatomy, vocal health, and various singing genres, greatly assist students to build healthy vocal techniques and versatile musicality. In my lessons, I implement ear training, sight-reading, music theory analysis, and improvisation to solidify the students’ fundamental musicianship. My teaching has a general structural outline that is accompanied by experimentation and creativity. I create an efficient learning environment for my students that also helps them to fully explore their potential.
In addition to the technical work, my goal is to create a safe space for students to challenge themselves and explore their potential. I care about my students as unique individuals and always make sure they feel supported and safe in my studio. Trust between teacher and student is key. I encourage my students to have an open mind for new vocal techniques, music genres, and vocal styles. I endeavor to create a holistic learning experience for students at every level and empower them to build confidence in singing.
